Diversion Safes..Valuables Hidden In Plain Sight
Diversion Safes
are a unique home security product. According to the dictionary it is "something that distracts someone's attention". Therefore you hide your valuables in something that says, "I belong here, there is nothing unusual about me." As the old saying goes…hide it in plain sight.
Diversion safes come in a variety of styles and shapes. You can get cans disguised as drinks, cleaning products, food, and even flower pots. You hide your valuables in these safes and then place them where they would normally go, in among your regular home products. The burglars are not going to shake every can in your cupboard to see if it is fake.
How many times have you left the house with a friend and didn't take your keys? Your husband promised he would be home when you returned? Well, there you are stuck, sitting on the porch until he returns, unless you have a key hidden in a diversion safe.
Since most families have both parents working now, there are times when you must leave a key so your children can get in. In both of these situations you can leave a key in a fake stone, an outdoor thermometer, a flower pot or possibly a fake sprinkler head.
When I was young, my grandfather used to leave a key hanging right by the garage door into the house. He said if somebody wants to get in he didn't want them braking the door. There was also a note box by the front door so that friends who stopped by could leave a note.
These days there is no way you want anybody to know you are gone. That is a clear invitation to come on in!
The average burglar only spends around 10 minutes in your home.
He is only looking for items that won’t take him long to find.
He does not look at the Ajax can that is in with the cleaning products under the sink. He is looking in the dresser drawers, bedroom closets and etc. He doesn't look at the hair spray can or the wall switch or a book on your shelf. That would take too much time.
The burglars are not going to shake every can in your cupboard to see if it is fake. But logic tells you that if you put a can of motor oil, with your valuables in, by the computer it’s just not going to work.
According to the Chicago police, these units are better than a locked safe and a thousand times cheaper.
